Off-Wing

By Ivelina Puhaleva

Dreams of committed rightist followers to have a sole candidate to vote for at the coming presidential elections will probably never come true. At least not until October, when the respectful figure of then former constitutional judge, Nedelcho Beronov, will occupy a line on the integral ballot. All half-year efforts of right-wing leaders to stitch up their differences and stand behind one name have earned only half-victory - and half support. Four out of eight formations in this spectre stand by Beronov - the rest prefer to play hide-and-seek, undisturbed by the fact they are already on the margin of extinction from Bulgarian political life. Playing solo will do them, or their public rating, no good - and they surely know that. But how sure could they be in public trust ever more, if they dare change the army once again?
