Bulgarian television star Natalia Simeonova, pop diva Maria Ilieva and charismatic actress Koyna Rousseva became the celebrities in a campaign against breast cancer this year.

The three beautiful women used their sex appeal to bring the serious disease and the fight against it into the limelight of public attention.

Their "naked" picture had been raising eyebrows for a week, on a large banner in front of the National Art Gallery in Sofia.

A pink ribbon had been covering their figures, provocatively showing off naked legs and shoulders.

When the cloth finally came down on Wednesday, it became clear that the beauties were actually wearing pink shirts with a message against breast cancer.

The campaign has been organized by cosmetics giant Avon, in what has already become a tradition in Bulgaria.

With a special range of products, the company collects money to donate for anti-beats-cancer purposes once every year.

Celebrities including actress Stefania Koleva, television hostesses Martina Vachkova and Radost Draganova, and former model Iva Ekimova have pledged support to the anti-cancer crusade.

"It is about time to start thinking about breast cancer as a problem to the entire family and the society, and not only to women," organizers say.

Pop/soul star Maria Ilieva, who has been the face of the campaign, underlined that a woman who receives strong support from loved ones has the strength to survive the disease.

Every year, more than 3,100 Bulgarian women are diagnosed with breast cancer, Avon say.

In September, the company will hold a march against breast cancer, with the participation of entertainment stars.
