I am flicking through foreign TV channels. Bombings over Beirut, killed civilians, mothers, children, rallies, Bush says something, UN says something else... And then I flick through the Bulgarian channels. Only to hear the obituaries of yet another dozen Bulgarians who found their deaths on the roads of their motherland last night. A carnage that apparently can't be affected by either fines, or never-coming-into-force disqualifications. Whatever the cause - speed demons, erring or novice drivers, fog, rain or poor tyres, tougher police measures are the only strong medicine to remedy the decease. And save thousands of lives. Authorities, so fond of adopting and citing foreign experience on other occasions, may quickly learn the recipe about the cure. Why not then bring back to life mental health tests, clamp cars, take licenses, and hope cops are not that corrupt?
