Bulgarian Coastal Mayor Blamed for Monsters of Rock Cancellation

Organizers of the famous Monsters of Rock festival have blamed the mayor of the Black Sea host city of Varna for failing to bring to life the major event.

"Kyril Yordanov, mayor of the city of Varna, dramatically changed the terms and conditions of the official authorities that we were familiar with and thus deliberately spoiled the event," an official statement of the company Universal-Entertainment said.

Organizers say the mayor wanted to ban the consumption of alcoholic drinks during the festival and to change the closing time so that the event "can not happen in a normal and reliable manner".

They urged disappointed fans to send complaints to the official web page of Varna Municipality, and assured them all tickets will be refunded.

Kyril Yordanov denied the information and attributed it to the entertainment's failure to organize the event.

Instead of a festival, Bulgarian fans of the harder sound will have to do with a sole concert, according to reports. That will be a show of Saxon and Motorhead, to be held August 3 in Varna.

MoR will take place in Albena next year, organizers said.
