Sofia citizens are keener to tie the knot in the first months after the sweltering summer heat and vacations are over, statistics show. The peak of the wedding feast comes in September, when an average of 700-800 couples head for the altar. The total number of marriages in the capital however hardly exceeds 6000 per year. Officials don't hide their joy when telling of couples that come and want to marry the next day.
