Science: Pandas Given World Heritage Status

A mountain sanctuary in China which is home to about a third of the world's giant panda population has been designated a World Heritage site, BBC informed.

The region in Sichuan province, with an area of more than 9,000 sq km can now qualify for aid to help manage and protect the pandas - one of the world's most endangered species.

Other World Heritage sites include Egypt's Pyramids, Stonehenge in Britain and the Great Wall of China.
