Billy Idol Lands in Bulgaria, Heads for Seafood

Rock megastar Billy Idol landed in Bulgaria in the wee hours of Tuesday morning and headed straight for his hotel room where tasty seafood and beer bottles were already waiting.

Idol was about to shake seaside Kavarna later in the evening, but not before he had tasted the special feast of seafood and traditional Bulgarian grill prepared in the Bulgarka restaurant by the shore.

The 50-year-old Brit will taste fish soup, crabs, mussels and pork grill. He is staying in the luxurious hotel complex Victoria and will ride around the town in a Cadillac convertible, provided by Bulgarian pop musician Tzetzo Elvisa (the Elvis).

Well into the era of Elvis, Billy Idol's support band for Kavarna will be "Beatles Unlimited", an Austrian band that plays the hits of the Liverpool wonders and has managed to capture even California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.

A total of 100 policemen and private guards ensured the safety at the concert.

After a decade of ups and downs in his professional and private life, Idol returned to the popular eye in 1998. There he played himself in The Wedding Singer, an Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore romantic comedy, where "White Wedding" was used as the title track.

Idol appeared on VH1 Storytellers and issued a successful Greatest Hits CD in 2001.

His album Devil's Playground, which came out 22 March 2005, is his first new studio album in nearly 12 years.
