Bulgarian Police Thwart Kidnapping

Crime | July 1, 2006, Saturday // 00:00

Police from the central Bulgarian town of Pavlikeni have foiled an attempt to kidnap a sixteen-year-old girl.

The young girl and her boyfriend were forcefully shoved in a car late Friday evening, by two men, BNT reported. The kidnappers then made the boy get out of the car and left him at a village in the area.

When he was released the boyfriend alerted the police and they managed to contact the victim through her cell phone. She told them what direction the car was going and patrol cars intercepted the culprits.

The conditions were tough, there was a storm outside, no electricity and pouring rains, but the policemen managed to save the girl regardless of all this, a task force chief from the Pavlikeni Police Department said.
