Leftists Top Slovakia Election

Slovakia's main leftist opposition party has taken the lead in Saturday's elections, but failed to gain an overwhelming majority. The Smer party has won 29.14% against 18.36% for Prime Minister Mikulas Dzurinda's Slovak Democratic and Christian Union. "For us, the result is fantastic," Smer leader Robert Fico has said. In order to govern, he will have to choose partners and analysts expect difficult political talks for the forming of a coalition.
