About 700 children opened Bulgaria's traditional Flag of Peace assembly, a popular international forum established during the communist rule.
Leftist MP Evgenia Zhivkova - granddaughter to late communist state leader Todor Zhivkov - organizes the event, which was originally initiated by her mother Lyudmila Zhivkova. Ever since Lyudmila's time, the event has been attracting international appraisal.
Bulgaria's Premier Sergey Stanishev and Culture Minister Stefan Danailov were guests to the festival Saturday, spending time with the youngsters during the eight edition of the event.
This year, its motto was "Flag of peace for the rights of children."
