About 45% of Bulgaria's people suffer high blood pressure, a survey has shown.
The poll, carried out by a pharmaceutical company, also found out that every year 60 000 suffer a heart attack or a brain insult.
Heart diseases cause 65% of deaths in Bulgaria, the same study has shown as quoted by the state radio BNR.
The same report cited experts as saying that Bulgarians were generally ignoring blood pressure issues, and did not care to seek doctor's help until serious problems hit.
Cardiologists insist that Bulgaria should draw a national plan to fight hypertonia, BNR said.
