Bulgarian youths are becoming more and more tolerant towards drugs use, a recent national survey of Mediana showed.
A total of 38% of the youths in the country say that there is nothing wrong in "weed smoking", whereas 17% believe that drugs usage "from time to time" could not result in addiction.
The survey, which is a part of the National youths report for 2005, approved by the Government on Thursday, was presented by Vessela Lecheva, chair of the State Sports and Youths Agency and her deputy Mihayl Balabanov.
It showed that every third student has smoked marihuana, every fifth one has used drugs. The survey included students aged 15 to 18 and young people up to 35 years.
According to the study there are two main tendencies: the first one proves that poverty among young people is declining and that their well-being is improving. They are becoming more and more educated.
The second tendency, however, is that 25% up to 30% of the young people are without good education, which means that Bulgaria's economy will be deprived of the capacity of nearly 20% of its people in working-age, Balabanov underlined.
