BULGARIA RANKS SECOND IN AGRICULTURE EMPLOYEES

The number of people employed in the agriculture sector is highest in Romania, followed by Bulgaria, Litva, Poland, Financial Times writes.

Commenting the EU subsidies and the aspirant reactions the newspaper illustrates the article with a diagram, which shows the share in GNP that the agriculture sector holds in each of the twelve EU applicant countries.

Bulgaria ranks first with 18% of the Gross National Product, Romania is second. At the bottom of the list are Hungary and the Czech Republic.

Despite the limited financial aid for agriculture, the new EU member countries will be granted substantial funding for carrying out structural reforms, infrastructure development and environment protection, the article claims.

In a separate development British newspaper Telegraph expressed the opinion that Bulgaria and Romania will have to wait for EU entry till the end of the decade, when they will have functioning market economy and stable judicial system.
