BULGARIA SUFFERS DEFEAT AT PAN PACIFIC TENNIS TOURNAMENT

Bulgaria's Magdalena Maleeva was defeated by Thailand's Tamarine Tanasugarn in the second round of the Toray Pan Pacific women's tennis tournament in Japan January 31 (6-3,2-6, 6-2). In the first round the Bulgarian tennis player won with a straight-set against unseeded Czech player Daja Bedanova (6-4, 6-4) on January 29. The Thai player scored a three-set win over Argentine wildcard Maria Salerni (6-3, 3-6, 6-2).
