Due to the world premier of the movie "The Da Vinci Code" the major Leonardo Da Vinci monument in Rome created by Bulgarian artist Asen Peykov will be renovated, local Trud daily reports.
The initiative for the renovation was launched by Sony Pictures Releasing and the money will come from the revenues of "The Da Vinci Code" movie based on Dan Brown's bestseller carrying the same name.
The renovation of Asen Peykov's work will continue for a year.
Asen Peykov spent most of his life in Italy. Peykov was chosen to make the major monument among 300 other artists. Once it was ready the Italian media called the Bulgarian "the adopted citizen of Rome". He has made over 1000 portraits of famous politicians, artists and writers.
The Bulgarian sculptor was declared for the guru of the modern sculpture in Italy.
