Known to be an avid reader, President Georgi Parvanov was pleased to drop in at the largest Spring Book Fair a day after it threw its doors open on May 24.

A historian by profession, Parvanov readily headed for the stands with works by Bulgarian authors, which account for a large chunk of the titles, represented by the 120 publishing houses from across the country.

Parvanov is well known for his passion for books. At the beginning of May he called for a national policy to promote book publishing and distribution all over the country, suggesting the launch of a "Donate A Book" campaign.
