Bulgaria's Theatres Dwindling

For the past six years the theatres in Bulgaria have diminished by 10, and are now 75, the National Statistics Institute (NSI) says.

In 2005 about a million and a half Bulgarians have seen a theatrical performance, which is close to half a million less than in 1998. Drama theatres have seen the biggest cuts and fourteen have been closed since 1998. Puppet theatres, however are one the rise and two new ones have been opened, bringing their total number to six.
