"Corrupt" Bulgarian EU Fund Chief Stays in Office

Crime | May 11, 2006, Thursday // 00:00

Sofia City Court did not approve prosecutors' demands for the dismissal of the deputy head of its State Agriculture Fund, over charges that he had taken a bribe.

The prosecution says that Krassimir Nedelchev has taken a BGN 357,000 bribe. He is also accused of malfeasance in office.

Talking to journalists Nedelchev refuted all the accusations.

On Tuesday there were reports that Nedelchev case was linked to one of the SAPARD projects he was involved with.

News about the deputy's suspected crime followed recent revelations of Bulgarian abusing SAPARD money.
