Colombia's president Alvaro Uribe called latin pop star Juanes "Colombia's greatest envoy" after the hottie performed a unique concert in the European Parliament on April 19.
Juanes became the first musician to ever land an invite to entertain the MEPs and managed to collect quite a hefty aid for his country. After the heartwarming concert, the politicians in Brussels softened up and granted EUR 2.5 M for the good cause of getting Colombia rid of landmines.
The hit singer of "A Dios Le Pido" and "La Camisa Negra" has always taken this matter to heart and has thrown several concerts for landmine victims. Landmines have killed more than 4,500, many of them children, in his motherland during the past 15 years.
Often compared to Quincey Jones because of his involvement with charity actions, Junaes devoted much of his efforts to fighting landmines since the very start of his career.
