Furry Ballerina Dies in Bulgaria

Society | April 27, 2006, Thursday // 00:00

A "ballerina" bear accommodated in a special Bulgarian park has passed away, after an exhausting career of entertaining passers-by.

Galya's body was buried and her head was taken for examination, media reported Thursday.

The furry entertainer was one of the 21 Bulgarian bears that were forced by their owners to dance on the streets for money, then saved by environmentalists and accommodated in the special Belitsa Park.

There are four bears in the country that still practice the same street dancing.

Talks for their well-deserved retreat in Belitsa continue.
