Bulgaria's President Georgi Parvanov has asked EU's Enlargement Commissioner Olli Rehn to use additional sources of information for the preparation of the monitoring report on Bulgaria.

Talking to the state radio BNR, the head of state pointed out that the information that the European Commission would use for the report was not complete.

Parvanov, however, did not specify what the additional sources should be.

He was also critical of the government, arguing that the Cabinet made too many promises.

"I believe that the government is responsible for these promises and eight months are enough for them to see what has been accomplished and what hasn't," Parvanov underlined.

The excuse that they rule in a coalition and that there have to be compromises is not convincing for me, the president added. He also pointed out that from now on Bulgaria would most likely have coalitional governments and therefore "the parties should be careful in making their promises."

In his words the Cabinet will have enough sources to make a step towards fulfilling its promises - especially the ones concerning the social system.

The president also warned against the "dangerous pursuit of involving ethnic issues in the policy".
