Bulgaria's Interior Ministry admitted to making insignificant progress in uncovering the assassination attempt against Bulgarian top crime reporter Vassil Ivanov.

A powerful bomb explosion in front of the apartment of the journalist from private Nova TV channel left his house completely demolished. Ivanov's family was inside and it's a wonder nobody was injured.

"It is tough to talk about clarifying the circumstances of the attack on the life of journalist Vassil Ivanov," Interior Minister Rumen Petkov told journalists a day after the brutal crime rattled the country. Police has conducted interrogations, inspected the site of the crime and taken prints.

The minister underlined that extra measures for the security of the journalist's family have been taken.

"It would be a sign of poor hygiene to tell you more," the minister said, adding that the comments on the preliminary versions of their police only hamper their work.

The bomb explosion in front of the apartment of a prominent Bulgarian television reporter has left his house completely demolished, smashing windows in the fourteen-story building and the cars parked nearby. The assassination attempt threatened the life of more than 20 people, Ivanov's neighbors.

It is suspected that the assault might have been triggered by one of the journalist's key investigative stories.

Vassil Ivanov, who is an investigative reporter in private Nova TV channel, vowed not to stop doing his stories, the latest of which showed scandalous video from Sofia prison with several inmates in humiliating sexual action.

Ivanov was the crime reporter who managed to "sell" the automobiles of former chief prosecutor Nikola Filchev and President Parvanov through the services of a corrupted notary.
