The famous Nikopol treasure is part of the new exhibition opened at the National Historical Museum in Sofia. The exhibition at the museum includes 300 artifacts.

The Nikopol treasure, which includes family jewelries, vessels and coins, includes two findings discovered one after the other at the same location in a period of more than 50 years. For that reason the treasures are known to historians as the first and second Nikopol Treasures.

Both the first and the second Nikopol treasures include coins of the Bulgarian kings Ivan Alexander, Ivan Sratsimir, of the Turkish Sultan Baiazid I and of the Wallach voivode Mircho I the Old as well as jewelry and silver vessels. Most of the artifacts are made of silver and gold.

Sofia citizens will now be able to enjoy the mastership of the ancient craftsmen, who have used various techniques of jewelry making, based on applying special molds.
