Sofia city prosecutors raised charges against suspected underworld boss Zlatomir Ivanov and an accomplice of his for exhorting a foreign businessmаn.
Prosecutors say in February 1999 the two threatened with murder and property confiscation their rival Mohamen Abdul Al Hirshi unless he signs documents for giving them a number of luxury cars and goods.
If found guilty, the two face from five to fifteen years in prison, a fine ranging from BGN 5,000 -15,000 and confiscation of a half of their property.
Zlatomir Ivanov, aka the Baret, and his driver and closest ally Tony the Fat, were arrested in November last year on suspicions of masterminding an assassination attempt against the late underworld boss Konstantin Dimitrov, dubbed Samokovetsa.
They were released a month later after the court found no irrefutable proof for the commitment of the crime.
