Bulgaria's rappers Upsurt quite surprisingly grabbed the prize for "Best Lyrics", at the 2006 annual BG Radio awards on Sunday evening.

Adding the recognition for "Best Album", the rap trio walked home with 2 awards - an achievement only matched by pop duo Karizma and singer Grafa.

In an unusually well organized ceremony, Karizma took the "Best Duet" and "Best Song", while Grafa was named "Best Singer" and "Best Composer." Half of the winning duo - Galya - caused quite a stir, for she was temporarily "released" from the VIP Brother confinement, to attend the event.

Upsurt's controversial song "3 in 1" became a swooping hit over the summer, but many doubt its lyrical value despite the fresh award. Late Todor Zhivkov, who was communist Bulgaria's head of state for more than 30 years, inadvertently added to the success of the song, His words, taken from one of his final speeches, sound over the beginning, a fact that reportedly enraged his daughter - current MP and fashion designer Evgeniya Zhivkova. Far less spectacular Galya from Karizma, and former news anchor Milen Tsvetkov, also appear in the song.

Pop star Mariya Ilieva and Star Academy winner Marin also took home a prize - for "Best Female Singer" and "Best Debut", respectively.

One of the highlights of the evening was the prize for "BG Ambassador" that the radio gave to top ice-skating duo Albena Denkova and Maxim Staviski for winning the world gold in Canada. The two were not able to collect their prize as they appeared on the ice in Calgary just hours after the ceremony took place.
