A special exhibition has opened doors in Sofia tracing back the history of photography in Spain.

The selection of 120 pictures reveals the course of photography development from pioneer daguerreotype created in Barcelona in 1839, through progressive calotype to the modern-style art of taking pictures.

Besides history, visitors to the Union of Bulgarian Artists can track also the various stages of photo development - portrait, photo reporting, artistic photography, the revolution of documentary after the WWII and the anthropologic-directed picture-taking characteristic for the peak of democracy.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Spanish Ambassador to Sofia Fernando Arias and the Union's chairman Ivaylo Mirchev. It is the product of 20-years-long research activity of Publio Lopez Mondejar, who is also author of many books plowing into the photo-history.
