Bulgarian Martichka Bozhilova, AGITPROP, who produced "Georgi and the butterflies", one of the most successful Bulgarian documentaries, will participate in a prestigious documentary event.
Bozhilova has been picked by the European Documentary Network to represent Europe at MIPDOC "International Trailblazers" in Cannes.
MIPDOC "International Trailblazers" is a new initiative designed to recognise creativity and innovation in the emergence of new trends and genres in the documentary field.
An international selection panel has chosen four visionary documentary-makers drawn from Europe, Asia/Pacific, the Americas and Africa to be the 2006 "International Trailblazers." The candidates of the "International Trailblazers" were selected according to: innovation and creativity, originality and breakthrough.
"The key to pushing the documentary genre forward is the existence of filmmakers who have strong vision and are burning to tell a story... their way," says Robert Redford, founder of the Sundance Channel, one of the sponsors of the International Trailblazers Tribute, a brand new initiative at MIPDOC 2006.
