Bulgaria has entered the most important stage of its thorny EU accession road - two months ahead of a report to decide the fate of the country's government ... and probably who will be the next president. Honestly said, I cannot find the logical arguments for the national diplomacy to make as hastily a step as this to hire EU lobbyists at this moment. Bulgaria has its Communication Strategy - a thorough and expert-made map opening possibilities for many and various organisations to contribute for the European integration of Bulgaria. What exactly for was this public procurement, financed by Bulgarian taxpayers? Why has Sofia selected as winner an offshore firm while knowing that the EU struggles to eliminate such harmful tax practices? How could the Foreign Ministry's spokesman (who is an arabist) openly say they were unaware of winning Shimon Shaves' corruption-charges marred background after the former personally used to be involved for years into diplomatic work concerning Middle East affairs? Finally, but not least important, it would be good for Bulgaria's EU file to make sure that its lobbying partners are not alleged for corruption - thus recklessly adding their bad record to our country's.
