I love Bulgaria too! Not only Bill Clinton - as he said through videotape on tourism conference.I would even told it to Bulgaria people personally.

I send this letter to all my family and friend in Czech republic, Slovakia, California, Germany and Bulgaria. Many of that people liked it so much that they encouraged me to write more about Bulgaria.

Here is the letter:

My dear family and friends,

My cousin's husband, American, writes every year, on Christmas, a letter about last year. I have not get it yet but I have got an idea to write it myself. Because last year was worth it and I would like to save his habit.

Last year was really superb. It was happy and merry. For everything what happened I am grateful to me but first also to my family and friends – I am grateful to all the people – for all they have done for me.

My „prince on white horse“ /Czech idiom for idol you wait all your life/ (Sasho – if somebody have not noticed yet) had come for me more than two years ago but I decided that I want him – fully and without exceptions – the year before last year. And last year I had been able to realize all yet. He is my biggest and best sun – he loves me (so much), he is nice to me, he fulfils every my wish, he is still in love, he makes anything because of me, he keeps his word, in short – label: ideal.

I thank also to the mother of my man – she wished us to be happy together for always (I understand this very good also in Bulgarian language).

Dominance of last year was travelling. We did thousands and thousands kilometres with Sasho last year. We were twice in Bulgaria – in January and in July. I would say I travelled across all Bulgaria. He says that there is still a lot to see. We were in Sofia, in south Bulgaria by Macedonian borders, where in style mechana were various maps of Macedonia as an independent state in various historical times. Chief and owner himselves fired up the fire place in meny mechanas. We tried olden Roman spa in Dobriniste, hotel people wanted to cumulate snow that we could ski. They carried our baggage and the boss of hotel spend with us all the evening and he braught the best archive from wine storage! Rilski monastir was impressive. We saw, in Batak, more than 100 years old blood of Bulgarians which refused to submit to Turkey. You can see something like this nowhere in all the world!

The sea, Sunny Beach, was beautiful also in January. Some hardy people swimmed also on New Yearsґ Day. The sand they have everywhere finest, the sea is living, you can find crabs, snail, all possible. Peninsula Nesebar was beautifully quite and in Pomorie there was great hotel in the front of doscotheque Messsalina. I tasted cream caramel first in my life – you can order it anywhere in the world – only in Czech republic not. I have known how to eat fried fish. Bulgarian cuisine is excellent – delitious, light, various, healthy. You can get newest pop hits in Bulgaria, people wear last fashion.

Chudnite mostove was real natural miracle. Chepelare and other winter centres were occupied by Germans, English and the Dutch so it was problem to get accommodation. Sheep was everywhere, also black ox and bull. And donkeys.

We saw also the all golden church. They have much to show in national museum in Sofia – history is very rich, monuments too and pride of Bulgarians really big – the proof is Bulgarian historical knowledge – children knows all from their parents and you must know it for any univertsity entrance examination. After all – strategic position of Bulgaria realized not only Hitler but NATO and EU now too.

Veliko Tarnovo has fort modernized from EU money. How looks the present Bulgarian queen you can see in photogallery on website hyperlink.bulgarien.cz.

Summer expedition was aimed to all the rest of Black Sea coast. From the Baltchik botanic garden with more than thousand year old poplar, through Kaliakra, where women tied each other with their hair jumped to the sea not to submit to Turkeys, through Golden Sands – there is everything, through beautiful Varna, Albena – spa city – with its prices where hotels Praga and Bratislava are the cheapest – all places full of Germans, you pay for entry to the city and you are wellcomed with the sign: PriceCoopers Waterhouse serves this city.

Everywhere direct to the sea there were beautiful parks. First park was built by Czech botanist Anton Novak who settled in Bulgaria. Also first culture minister was Czech – Konstantin Jirecek.

Madarski konik was high – hewed in the rock, more than thousand year ago.

South was more exotic, cheaper – in very south you could get bed even for 3 leva. Therefore Primorsko was ful of Czechs. Even so Czechs walked around restaurants in Sozopol and Bulgarians ate. Who has better times? Maybe Czechs – average salary is almost 16.000 Czech crowns (1000 BGL). Bulgarian tzar-PM has hard work. And young people go out of Bulgaria. They are everywhere – In Canada, U.S.A., Spain, Italy, Austria, Hungary, Czech republic (officially about 5000). Therefore BG waits votes from abroad during elections…

Ukrain, Russian… women like to marry Bulgarian men… (Not only.) The education of Bulgarian boys and Czech boys is completely different. Czech boys are mostly spoiled, lazy, unable, dependent.

On Bulgarian beaches there is a lot of Russians, foreigners are there most as tourists. Bulgarians drove Vietnamese, Cubans, Russian mafians etc. out.

Bag-pipers play for us in mechanas and in rocks. What a Bulgarian pride that except Bach there was played Bulgarian national song in space! There was a rock Aladza monastir. Wild nature is to see from ships on Kamchija and Ropotamo rivers. There were snakes and tortoise, Ropotamo is big reservation with water-lily and Indian water-lily lake.

Foreigners pay everywhere more.

Except we visited Vienna, Italy, France, Monako, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Hungary, Romania, Czehc republic, Slovakia but I did not like anything as much as Bulgaria.

I created - with some help - beginning of web site of Bulgarian minority web site – www.sweb.bulgarien/cz. And bulgarien.hyperlink.cz – with photos. I have read a whole book in Bulgarian language. I found that even after 50 years nobody prints Bulgarian-Czech dictionary in Czech republic.

I thank to all for last year. Especially my family and friends. Sasho, I love my life with you and I enjoy the world.

All the best to all of you

Martina
