The second edition of Eurovision is over and many Bulgarians can now take a deep breath with relief. But not too deep! The elected sensual ballad performed by Mariana Popova was indeed one of the best songs heard that evening, and organizers did their best to make sure no one rigs the vote this time. Still, the question remains, did they manage to do so? No, according to the outcast bidders in the finals. Once again Bulgaria's bid to reveal its music to the rest of Europe might be marred by ugly scandals. It gets me thinking of that cruel old joke about the Bulgarian hell. Unlike all other hells there was no devil to push people back into the boiling cauldron, the joke goes. When someone attempted to crawl out, everyone just pulled the poor soul back in...
