The Second national fair dedicated to the unique breed Bulgarian Shepard dog will take place in the southern town Haskovo.
More than 20 teams and clubs from across the country will join the event presenting over 100 dogs. The competition will take place in four rings, from the "Baby" to the "Veteran" category.
Haskovo's municipality and local club "Bulgarian Shepard dog" are organizing the fair. The awards will be handed in several categories including "Best breeding group", "Most beautiful pair" and "Best team a child and a dog."
The breed is typical for Bulgaria. It is known as one of the most valued and oldest working breeds in Europe. The breed has been developed by the proto-Bulgarians. These powerful dogs can be found in different regions of Bulgaria but they are said to have developed in the Stara Planani, Rila, Pirin and Rhodophes mountain regions.
The Bulgarian Shepard dog is known for its remarkably long-living canine, sometimes reaching over 20years of age.
That breed is famous with its extraordinary intelligence.
