A touching ballad was picked to represent Bulgaria at the Eurovision 2006 contest.

"Let me cry again" of famous pop singer Mariana Popova with the back vocals of Bulgarian pop folk performer Azis received 24.45% of the support of the voters thus making it to Eurovision 2006.

The viewers had to chose between twelve finalists that were shortlisted at the semifinals. Through SMS voting that continued for 10 minutes Bulgaria picked its Eurovision bid.

Mariana Popova and her song will join the Eurovision rivalry that will take place in Athens in May.

Last year the Bulgarian participation in the spectacle was marred by a vote-rigging scandal. The country's representative band, Kaffe, were accused by other Bulgarian contestants of generating SMS votes through specially bought SIM cards. The scandal broke during the live gala concert in Sofia when the winners were announced.
