There is a danger qualified health specialists to become insufficient once Bulgaria joins the European Union (EU), Viktoras Seskauskas, risk appraisal specialist with the Environmental Protection Agency of Lithuania said.

Seskauskas participated in a Sofia-held international conference on safe and healthy working conditions. Sharing Lithuania's experience, he said that there is a shortage of about 250 specialists at annual university capacity of 150 medics.

The reason for that shortage is the fact the health specialists leave for countries with better labour conditions.

Doctor Evgeni Dushkov from the Podkrepa trade union claimed that Bulgaria is facing the same problem at present as well.
