One person was killed and dozens injured after a passenger train collided with a freight train just outside of Athens. The passenger train, which was travelling from Athens to the northern port city of Thessaloniki, derailed after crashing into a freighter train which was parked in the station of Menidi, approximately 15 minutes from downtown Athens. Two of the six coaches had derailed, trapping dozens of people inside. The engine driver of the train was said to have died in the crash.
