Japan decided to follow the steps of the United States and approved a lawproject that requires foreigners to be fingerprinted and photographed upon entering the country. The main goal, quite like in the US, is to prevent terrorists from entering the country. The law is to be voted by the parliament before the end of the summer. Fingerprints and photos will be loaded into a database where they would be compared to existing databases of wanted criminals and foreigners extradited from Japan. Those declared terrorists could then be extradited from the country, the law project suggests. It also states that ship and airplane crews should present a list of passengers even before entering the country.
