Days of Bulgarian culture opened on February 26 in Rome to promote one of oldest cultures on the European continent.

Prominent actors, musicians and artists will join the initiative to popularize Bulgaria's culture on the doorstep of the country's EU entry. Part of it is the exhibition of Bulgaria's ancient treasures already on display in the Quirinale Palace in the heart of Rome.

The project will also seek to raise funds for renovating the culture centre donated to Bulgaria by Rome. A former mint of the Vatican, it is located near the San Pietro Square.

The Culture Days are organized under the aegis of Vice-President Anguel Marin, Culture Minister Stefan Danailov, the Bulgarian Embassy in Italy and Rome Municipality and will continue until March 1.

Italy's most influential dailies, "Corriere della Sera" and "Repubblica" described the event as very important for the cultural life of the Italian capital.
