Israel's diva Ishtar, who popularized the "oriental pop" fusion worldwide, was the guest of honor at a party for parentless children in Grand Hotel Sofia on Saturday.

Celebrating the upcoming March 1, the kids presented their own gift to the hotel's guests - a traditional martenitsa - white-and-red interwoven strings usually given out with wishes of health and prosperity. All of the guests of the hotel will receive a hand-made martenitsa to bring them health and teach them something more about Bulgaria's tradition.

Oriental pop diva Ishtar was also honored with the traditional charm, made by the children at the Asen Zlatarov home. Each martenitsa is unique, and accompanied by a description of its place in Bulgaria's culture in both Bulgarian and English.
