Gay Cowboy Drama Scoops 4 Baftas

Gay cowboy drama "Brokeback Mountain", the story of two male ranch hands, dominated the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) awards Sunday night in London, winning four awards including best picture.

Jake Gyllenhaal, who stars as one of the two Wyoming cowboys who develop a romantic, sexual relationship was named best supporting actor, and Taiwanese filmmaker Ang Lee wan the best director prize.

The best adapted screenplay award went to Brokeback writers Larry McMurtry and Diana Ossana for their adaptation of a short story by author Annie Proulx.

At the end of January "Brokeback Mountain" secured a total of eight nominations for the 78th annual Oscar Awards.
