Czech Senate Oks Same-Sex Marriages

The upper chamber of the Czech parliament gave the green light to legalizing the status of same-sex couples. Forty-five of the 65 lawmakers present in the 81-seat Senate voted in favour of the law, 14 were against. Six Senators abstained. If approved also by President Vaclav Klaus, the Czech Republic will become the thirteenth EU member state to legalize homosexual married couples.
