A day after leaving hospital, Bulgarian Patriarch Maxim attended a service held for his health in St Nedelia church in Sofia.

Bishops, clerics and hundreds of believers who flocked to the church congratulated the patriarch on his name day January 21, when tribute is paid to Saint Maxim.

His Holiness Patriarch Maxim entered hospital in September last year with a diagnosis of a broken leg.

But worries about the health conditions of the Bulgarian Patriarch, aged 91, were fuelled by earlier reports that he suffered of other diseases.
