A Southwest Airlines plane has slipped off the airstrip in Chicago Midway International Airport during landing, crashing into two cars and killing a young boy. The plane was attempting a landing in heavy snowfall, and could not stop in time, so it crashed through the airstrip fence and came to a halt at a nearby street. Two people on board have received light injuries and there are eight, more seriously injured, who were travelling in the two cars. The child couldn't make it to the hospital. The snow cover in the area of the airport was about 18 centimetres thick.
