Students from Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" have arranged untraditional wedding ceremonies to celebrate their holiday on Thursday.

For the fourth consecutive year, Alma Alter, the theatre group with the university is consecrating willing couples into the mystery of love-match marriages.

The ceremonies, involving candles, ropes, dry spaghetti sticks and lots of loving vows took place in the halls of the university. The certificates, given out to each couple that undergoes the special ceremony bear no legal validity.

Actors from Alma Alter first stepped into the ring of love to urge friends into "wedlock" in a gesture of devotion, and lovers to take the step as a preparation for the real "I do".

The Day of the Bulgarian students was first marked in 1903 in Sofia University and has been celebrated ever since both by current and former students.
