EU Commissioner for Enlargement Guenter Verheugen insisted that there are no exceptions of the Euro introduction in the EU candidate countries in an interview for a German radio. All new members of the union should be able to introduce the new currency once they meet all membership criteria, he explained. “No additional criteria for EU candidate countries should be made. Neither should obstacles for EU enlargement to the East be created, “EU Commissioner for Enlargement Guenter Verheugen said. He added that it is not necessary to wait for the reform in EU to accept new countries since that may harm seriously the trust of the candidate countries in their EU partners.
