The Vatican has prepared a special draft to reaffirm the policy of keeping homosexuals out of the priesthood. Men who experience a short-lived phase of homosexuality may join a seminary if they have overcome such tendencies for at least three years, the document says. An Italian Catholic news web site, Adista, has published the draft, which should be officially released next week, the BBC said Thursday. Gays have already been banned from priesthood back in 1961. But a 2002 scandal in the US, where several men accused priests of having abused them as teenagers, made late Pope John Paul II order a review on the issue.
