Bulgaria art lovers are impatiently waiting for the opening of the first ever exhibition of Bulgaria born conceptual artist Christo.

The exhibition will be opened November 22 in the gallery "Academy" with the National Art Academy, where the famous artists studied back in 1953 to 1956.

The exhibition will present in posters the art of the unique student of the National Art Academy. A total of 62 placards were donated to the Academy and Christo's student works were be exhibited in a separate hall in the gallery.

The unique collection has already found its owner - a Belgian collector, who paid USD 20,000 for it.

Christo is alumnus of the academy that still keeps some of his student-time sketches. He accepted the invitation by dean Bojidar Yonov, and agreed to help with the renovation of the school's building.

Art connoisseurs believe that Christo's reasons for accepting are sentimental, as he has many times declined exhibiting in Bulgaria, due to the ineptitude of the market.

Christo announced that the profit from selling his posters during the exhibition would go for the renovation. His works have already arrived in Bulgaria, each one bearing it's author's signature.

Christo and Jeanne-Claude, who is French, are known for their large-scale public art pieces. They surrounded 11 islands in Miami with pink woven fabric in 1982, wrapped silver fabric around the German Reichstag in 1995 and opened 3,100 umbrellas in Japan and California in 1991.
