Bulgaria's President Georgi Parvanov presented the national flag to professor Hristo Pimpirev, head of the 14th Bulgarian expedition to the Antarctic.

The president underlined the importance of the expedition for the development of the Bulgarian science and added that the scientists there work at extremely complicated conditions. Still, "they have managed to turn Bulgaria's territory there in real Bulgarian place, because of the atmosphere they have created."

President Parvanov vowed to help Bulgaria's scientists in their mission.

Professor Pimpirev expressed his gratitude for the vowed support and said that piece of the Antarctic belongs not only to the "few people living there, but to entire Bulgaria."

Two members of the 14th Bulgarian expedition to the Antarctic leave Saturday, whereas the rest of the group will leave later.
