The concert was organized upon the initiative of recently set-up civil association where prominent Bulgarians try to contribute for the release of the medics on the sidelines of diplomacy by boosting cultural relations between the Balkan and the North African country.

Five Bulgarian nurses and a Palestinian doctor will hear November 15 their death sentences' appeal at Libyan Supreme Court.

On May 6, 2004 they were found guilty of deliberately infecting more than 400 children with AIDS at a Benghazi hospital. The medics' confessions, which were extracted with torture, are the only evidence proving their guilt.

The nurses were sentenced to death by a firing squad, sparking cries of foul from Bulgaria and its allies the United States and the European Union.
