60 Dead as Ferry Sinks In Pakistan

At least 60 people are feared dead after a ferry sunk in southern Pakistan, a navy spokesman has said. Women and children are feared to be among the victims. The accident occurred in a coastal creek in the Thatta district at the mouth of the Indus River, about 45 miles southeast of Karachi. An official was cited as saying that the boat may have been overloaded. There were some 80 people aboard when it overturned. Five people managed to swim ashore and raise the alarm.
