Bulgarian Students Thrive at Astronomy Olympics in China

Bulgaria's team of students won a total of seven awards in the tenth international Astronomy Olympics that was held in China.

Ignat Kalinov a ninth-grader from Bulgaria's town of Pleven grabbed the first prize in his age group (15 to 17), and an additional Diploma for best performance at the observational round.

Another ninth-grader from Plovdiv - Alexander Kurtev - won the second place in the group for thirteen to fifteen-year-olds. Four more students from Sofia, Haskovo and Pleven made it to the third place in their groups.

Bulgaria's young stargazers competed with 78 students from 16 countries including China and Russia.
