MINISTER DEMANDS STRICT REGULATIONS FOR OPENING PRIVATE MUSEUMS

Private museums may be opened in Bulgaria in case the state stipulates strict regulations, Culture Minister, Bozhidar Abrashev said in the Black Sea resort of Albena. He expressed the opinion that the private museums can be reliable partners in protecting the national heritage if they are prohibited to export relics. Minister Abrashev said that before this decisive step is taken there will be a broad debate on the issue and also amendments to the Museum Act. The Culture Ministry is to register all movable and immovable relics of national significance. An agreement has been reached with Boyko Borisov, Chief Secretary of the Interior Ministry, on guarding tombs and mounds.
